Managing Services in Ubuntu

Problem

How to manage services in Ubuntu – looking for similar thing as “service” used in RedHat-clones.

Analysis

List of available software is the following:

• sysv-rc-conf – best
• rcconf – does not enable to set runlevel
• bootup-manager
• System -> Preferences – > Startup Applications – very simple

Solution

sysv-rc-conf is our choice and recommendation.
